The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced that, “On May 1, 2026, while the citizen: M.Z. (born in 1982) was withdrawing his retired father’s salary from an ATM in the Al-Tal area - Tripoli, an unknown person fraudulently stole the bank card and the paper on which the PIN was written.” She added in a report, “After about an hour, he received a text message on his mobile phone informing him that the entire monthly pension had been withdrawn from the balance, and as a result, orders were given to the relevant units to carry out their field and information procedures, to identify the thief and arrest him.” She continued: “As a result of the surveys and investigations, the Information Division was able to identify the suspect, whose name is: M. M. (Born in 1994, Lebanese) He has a history of stealing bank cards, and was previously arrested for the same crime. On May 4, 2026, one of the Division’s patrols was able to arrest him in the Al-Mina district - Tripoli, on board a Mercedes car, which was seized. Upon searching him and the car, a quantity of drugs and the stolen amount of money were found in his possession. Upon interrogation, he confessed to what was attributed to him in terms of carrying out the theft of the bank card in a fraudulent manner and withdrawing money through it. The stolen amount was returned to the plaintiff, legal action was taken against the detainee (M.M.), and the seized items were deposited with the relevant authority, in accordance with the instructions of the competent judiciary.
